Adam Roberts

London Academy Adam Roberts has worked in all areas of broadcasting, including as editor, director and producer. He has also worked in programme acquisition and commissioning. He has worked on Panorama and Newsnight, as well as more recently as a producer developing documentaries at Zenith Entertainment. Adam has also made documentaries, dramas and dance films for both Channel 4, French TV and the BBC. Several of his films have won festival prizes. He is currently experimenting with time-based work for gallery exhibition.

 
Brian Deacon

London Academy Brian’s film career began when he played Gunner Barton, opposite Glenda Jackson and Oliver Reed in “ The triple Echo”. He then made “ Il Bacio da una Morta” in Italy and took the role of “ Jesus, His life and Times” ( Warner Brothers) shot on location in Israel. In his last film, he played Oswald in Peter Greenaway’s “ A Zed and two Noughts”, co-starring his brother Eric. Television credits include Mr Lewisham in “ Love and Mr Lewisham”, Oswald in Ibsen’s “ Ghosts” ( YTV ), “ The Emigrants “ ( BBC ), Charles in “ Separates tables “ ( Cable Films ), and Alan Woodcourt in “ Bleak House “ ( BBC ). He appeared in Andrew Davies’ “ Inappropriate Behaviour “ ( BBC “ screen two “) and in “ Me and my Girl “ ( LWT ). Brian also played the regular character, Neil Kincaid in “ Emmerdale” ( YTV ) and Bryan Broody in “ Bugs”. Brian’s voice can be heard on numerous TV commercials: The Times, Fiat Punto, Timotei, Yellow Pages and BT to name but a few. He has also voiced numerous characters for Lucas Films Stars Wars games “ Knights of the Empire “

 
Catalin Brylla

London Academy Head of post-production and a freelance editor, Catalin supervises our editing courses. His area of expertise is Avid and any technical issue involved in the editing process. However, an aficionado of editing theory and aesthetics, he also encourages his students to be self-reflective and proactive in order to achieve the best outcome of their film. He draws on his vast filmmaking and editing experience in documentaries, fiction, corporate videos and community films. His films were selected and screened at festivals around the world, such as 100% Art (Tel Aviv), Assim Vivemos (Rio de Janeiro) and The Other Film Festival (Melbourne). One of his latest documentaries won the Pearl Award for Media Excellence.

 
Charles Brescia

London Academy A veteran production manager and Assistant Director and a member of the Directors Guild of America. Among his many credits are the television series Baywatch, Quantum Leap, Hunter, Murder She Wrote and Cheers. The feature films Midnight Run and Coming to America and over 200 music videos and commercials. Charles was also Supervising Producer at MTV for four years

David Spencer

London Academy David has worked for more than 10 years in the radio industry, presenting shows, news and also in production. David began his career at STAR FM, where he became their Sport and News Editor. He went on to become a Senior Broadcast Journalist at FOX FM. He’s now a self-employed news reader and editor at Sky News - working in TV and Radio, Entertainment News, IRN, Classic Gold, 96.4 The Eagle and numerous other stations.

 
Debbie King

Duncan Wilson

London Academy Duncan is a professional radio presenter, with a vast range of production skills, and industry experience! Starting professionally at the ripe young age of 22, on SBN’s breakfast show, Duncan completed his Media Technology degree at the same time. Work on Danny Baker’s breakfast show at BBC London 94.9 soon followed and Duncan even stood in for the boss at Maidstone’s CTR 105.6, where he can currently be heard at weekends. He occasionally pops up playing various characters on Neil Grayson’s breakfast show on Ten 17 FM and was even heard, for a whole hour, on BBC Radio 1. Duncan is often complimented on his laid-back, but firm approach to the courses, allowing students to enjoy the learning process, while still achieving the required targets from his Students.

 
Eric Deacon

London Academy 25 years experience as a professional actor, includes many leading roles in theatre, television and films. Geoff Leesley

James Bartholomew

London Academy Is a renowned anglo-american photographer whose international eye has produced many international exhibitions and several photo books, including 'The Magic of Kew' 'The City of London' and 'Inside the Tower'. As well as enjoying a successful commercial career spanning 20 years, his view of photography as a holistic life tool motivates him to explore social-psychological aspects of the media through personal stock images, and his interactive workshops such as 'Photo Diary' and 'Self-Image: using the camera as an emotional tool'.

 
Javier Gonzalez Bernardo

London Academy Javier is a multidisciplinary artist, skilled in different creative areas, from filmmaking to photography passing through music and design. As a photographer he has worked for many european firms and individual clients and has exhibited his works around Europe (His latest individual exhibits were in Genova-Italy-2004 and in Croatia-Dubrovnik-2005, and soon opening an exhibition in Spain in february 2006). Javier combines his expertise in photography with his advanced knowledge of Digital retouching, producing works that blend different creative areas,creating in this way new paths in the photography world. Jo Plumridge

London Academy Jo Plumridge is an experienced photographer and writer with over ten years experience. She has worked in Africa as a wildlife photographer and in New Zealand, America and Europe as a travel and documentary photographer. Back in England she works across a broad spread of genres, including portraiture, fashion, corporate and events. Jo combines both traditional and digital photography with a comprehensive knowledge of Photoshop to give students a well rounded approach to their work. Jo is an extremely practical tutor, and believes that the key to Photography is learning to have fun!

 
Jonas Hurst

London Academy Jonas has been a regular presenter on Five News for a number of years, covering news, showbiz stories, movie reviews, current affairs and conducting studio based interviews. He co-hosted The Five Breakfast Show, a live programme with guests. He can also be seen fronting Thomas Cook TV, both in the studio and on location. Presenting for ITV Sport worked well for Jonas as he is a keen sportsman. As a schoolboy he attended a football school of excellence and played rugby for England. He is a professional tennis coach and counts skiing, squash and cricket as some of his many sporting passions. Other credits include; ITV2, ITN Sports News, ITV series In Good Company, Sky news, Eurosport, The Money Channel, London TV and RI:SE for Ch 4. He also has numerous co-operate videos, 'live' events and countless voice-over credits to his name, across many genres and channels(tv and radio). In fact Jonas is the longest serving presenter on Thomas Cook TV. Jonas qualified from Cambridge University in 1997.

 
Louis De La Foret

London Academy An Emmy award winning Television News writer, designated as one of the 100 Best in the business by the "Washington Journalism" review magazine, and won multiple Associated Press Broadcaster's Association awards for documentary work for CNN, ABC, CBS.

 
Mark Lipscomb

London Academy Mark has worked in Television on both sides of the camera since 1980 and has a wealth of broadcasting experience. He has been a regular presenter on itv Central News since 1991, so has extensive live broadcast experience and is well-accustomed to working to tight deadlines. He has first hand knowledge of how to cope effectively with the demands of live TV news. Mark has also worked as a reporter, producer, floor manager and location director for Central News working most recently on a special programme with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Mark is frequently asked to perform public duties in his role as one of the ambassadors for itv in the Central area. As a cameraman, Mark worked on a wide range of studio/location/ outside broadcasts across the UK and around the world. Mark was also one of the best-known voices on itv in the London area for many years as Senior Live Continuity Announcer and network promotions voice-over. Mark was trained by BBC World Service radio as a newsreader/announcer.

 
Mary Ellen Lamb

London Academy Mary Ellen Lamb is a leading international makeup artist. From Catwalk shows, beauty, advertising and editorial, she has worked with some of the world's top designers, photographers, and brands. She's had extensive experience working at the BBC, Channel 4, and various satellite channels. Mary Ellen also has considerable teaching experience and likes to encourage new talent and collaborations. She's taught at London College of Fashion, Morley College and London Academy of Radio Film and Television. Mary Ellen has worked with many professionals, please see sample of credits below.

Melinda Lawler

Melinda Lawler Melinda is Head of Speech and Drama at the Academy. She has ten years experience as an actress/broadcaster in commercial radio, radio drama and voice overs. She was trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama before working in repertory theatre and moving into commercial radio as a presenter. Her credits include WDR, 2TEN fm, Capital Radio, GLR and Xfm. She also lectures in Music Production and Music Culture at the BCUC University in Buckinghamshire.

 
Mike Absalom

London Academy Michael Absalom (Abs) is currently a commentator on Eurosport & can be regularly heard hosting Big Toe Radio on BBC7. He is one of the voices for the popular Cartoon Network Channel. He recently appeared onBBC1co-hosting Best of Friends; a popular CBBC show and also appeared on one of the most entertaining episodes of Ready Steady Cook - BBC2

 
Mike Raycroft

London Academy Began his career at ITN as senior cameraman. While at ITN Mike devised many training programmes, winning ITN a national training award. Mike has continued designing and delivering training programmes for new digital start-up stations around the world, including the world’s first digital satellite network in Italy, followed by Asia’s first digital network in Malaysia. Now specialising in his passion for DV cameras and the revolution they have brought to broadcast production, Mike is here to help you backed by a wealth of experience.

 
Milfid Ellis

London Academy Is a freelance Actors Coach and film maker, working with Directors such as Altman ( The Player ) and Peter Greenaway ( The Pillow Book ) Milfid's career working with actors has enabled her to collaborate with actors such as : Bernard Hill, Joely Richardson, Juliet Stephenson, Miranda Richardson, Bruno Ganz, Sir John Gielgud, Helen Mirren, Ralph Fiennes, Ewan Mc Gregor, Sir Michael Gambon, Tim Roth, John Malkovitch, William Dafoe, Eddie Izzard and vinnie Jones and most recently with John Cusack. Her performance films for the BBC and C4 have won several awards at Berlin and San Sebastian.

 
Oriona Grzyb

London Academy Following a passion for make up since age of 12, has led Oriona Grzyb to the fashion and clothing industry where she's been a professional make up artist for 7 years. Her qualifications and training within the world of Beauty Therapy , Make-Up and Personal Styling is second to none and she's worked on a wide variety of catwalk and photographic fashion jobs. Clients have included Wella , Rimmel , Tony and Guy , Top of the Pops and many more.

 
Peter Purves

Phoebe Winter

London Academy Phoebe has presented on Total Rock (www.totalrock.com) for over four years, presenting and producing a hard rock and metal show, the Helldrive, every Tuesday afternoon. Highlights include interviewing Cradle of Filth and Gary Numan. She's a swing jock at The Saint in Southampton, and recently presented the breakfast show at the Download festival. She also DJs at various alternative club nights in and around London.

 
Ryan Khan

London Academy Head of Adobe Digital Video editing, with talents that go beyond the technical process of post production and editing, Ryan’s abilities truly shine through his tutoring. This is because he is able to properly transmit and translate the process of post production and editing and the relation that pre-production has on post. This allows him to unlock the hidden talents of any of his students through simplistic explanations of the tools used to create a digital or celluloid master piece. He also reveals the beautiful complexities of the art through retrospective concepts, ideas and opinions. He left Trinidad and Tobago after tutoring many junior editors and accomplishing pioneering works in Commercials, DVD productions, Television Channel Designs and Music Video’s under all major production houses and television stations.

 
Sally Gray MBE

London Academy Is a multi-talented TV Presenter and writer. Sally earned a nomination from the Royal Television Society, Best Presenter Award. Sally has presented various TV shows including: BBC1's The Holiday Programme, ITV's "Moving Day" , "Our House". CBBC's "50/50", "Record Breakers", "It'll Never Work" "Real Rooms", "Holiday", "The Really Useful Show", "The National Lottery" for BBC and GMTV Meet The Dinosaurs for BBC Knowledge, Pulling Power for Carlton TV, Our House for ITV, People out there for National Geographic channel, Liquid News for BBC Choice, The Mountain Bike show for ITV, Movie Watch for channel four. Sally Plays the piano, loves opera and is devoted to celebrity gossip.

 
Sam Walker

London Academy Sam Walker is the founder of Arm and Eye films who’s first ultra low budget short film ‘Duck Children’ stormed the festival circuit in 2001 picking up a host of awards and selling to television around the world. This was followed by the film council funded ‘Pool shark’ the film won the salvation films award at the I.C.A and has toured extensively. The third short ‘Tea Break’ was completed in September 2004. At its premier at San Sebastian it won the Silver Melies award, and with it the nomination for best European fantasy short film. The film has been sold To Channel 4 and canal + it also appears on the Sitges and Fantasia film festival compilation DVD’s. He is currently working on a schizophrenic and fragmentary version of Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company and developing feature projects for the Paris based Co-Production Office, Sales agent for Takashi Mikes ‘Audition’ and Co-producers of Lars Von Trier’s Breaking the waves. Having written, directed, produced and been involved in the soundtracks for all of the films Sam has a wide range of experience, from production through to distribution.

 
Selena Harrington

Selena Harrington Head of Sound Production, Lennie was a Radio DJ in Canada for 5 years before moving to the UK. Now working on Virgin Radio dishing out classic Rock. Tune in 10am sundays to hear more... A trained Singer, Voice Coach and Sound Engineer..

 
Yana

London Academy Russian born, Yana has worked as an independent make-up designer and artist internationally on various feature films and commercials. I Like to switch between SFX for films and beauty make-up for advertising campaigns. Graduated from the St.Petersburg State film Studio ‘Lenfilm”.Worked with Nika and Locarno winner, Cannes nominated director Aleksey German on his fiction drama “Hard to be a God”, creating facial hair, prosthetics and effects.
